content and creative.
Should I pay influencers or run ads?
the short answer.
They do different jobs. Influencers buy you attention and borrowed trust once; ads buy you repeatable, measurable demand. The strongest version is both: use creator content as the ad, so you pay for the reach you actually want and keep the asset afterwards.
what each one really buys.
An influencer post buys a moment in front of someone else’s audience, plus the credibility of their endorsement. It is hard to repeat on demand and harder to measure. A campaign buys delivery you control, to an audience you choose, with a number at the end.
the version that works best.
Agree usage rights up front, then run the creator’s video as a paid ad. You get the trust of a real person and the control of paid delivery, and you are no longer dependent on their posting schedule or their follower count.
before you pay anyone.
- Agree what you are allowed to do with the content, and for how long.
- Ask for the raw footage, not just the posted edit.
- Judge the creator on whether their audience buys things, not on follower count.
- Track it with its own link or code so you know what it did.
